Exceptional Antique Gilt Silver Table Barometer by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ BOIN-TABURET

This is truly a unique find! In all our years collecting we have never come across such an object…
The Barometer is entirely worked in silver covered by 18 carat gold and delicately worked in the Louis XVI Style.

The lower part of the Barometer which holds the round dial is decorated on the sides with beautifully etched oak leaves while the lower part features carved acanthus leaves.
The Barometer is topped by a flowing ribbon while the Thermometer part is flanked by two chutes of laurel leaves and acanthus swirls.
A round sundial decorated with laurel leaves finishes the main part.

The piece is set on a simple oak wood stand which is lined on all sides by Vermeil silver ribboned reeds topped by a lovely ribbon.
The barometer stands with the help of a bronze armature.
All pieces can be removed for better cleaning.

The works is sincerely gorgeous, and the piece is intact.
There is only a slight mark on the white barometer display due to age.

The height given is that of the full mounted piece.
The height of the silver main part is 8.56 inches, while its width at it largest is 3.54 inches

The Hallmark is Minerve -1st title (950/1000)- 1838 -1919 -Paris

The Makers Mark shows a G and a B as well as a fully marked out BOIN TABURET – PARIS. The mark is for ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ Georges BOIN and Emile TABURET. After individual successful careers they joined forces and registered their joint mark 1873. They went on to win a gold medal for their beautiful pieces in 1889 during the Paris World Fair.
They worked at 3 Rue Pasquier near the Madeleine Area of Paris.
