Exquisite Antique Silver Compote Serving Dish By Doutre Roussel

A Gorgeous Antique French Silver ‘Compote’ Serving Dish by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Claude DOUTRE ROUSSEL.

We have rarely such lovely ‘repoussé’ work on a compote dish before!

The border of the silver dish is worked into five different panels showcasing the fruits that can be used in compotes.
One panel is dedicated to strawberries that are etched in a gorgeous way with even the grains on the fruits perfectly rendered and featuring in a corner a lovely strawberry flower.
The second panel features cherries with the leaves beautifully rendered and the cherry bunch falling gracefully onto the center of the panel.
The next panel showcases grapes and grape vines. Once again the leaves are gorgeously pictured and the grapes look good to eat!
The following panel pictures quince branches and fruits, while the final panel showcases beautiful pear fruits and branches.
Each panel is separated by a cut out floral silver scroll.

An exquisite find, that really highlights the amazing level of art the ‘Maître Orfévre’ attained.
It is in excellent condition!
It can be used as originally intended for compote, or to present fruits, or even pastries.
