Exquisite Antique Silver ‘Manches A Cotelettes’ Set~Sold~

An absolutely Exquisite Antique French Silver Set of 6 ‘Manches à Cotelettes’ or Lamb Cutlet Holder Implements attributed to ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET.
They are delicately decorated in the Louis XV Style with lovely floral designs and Rocaille scrolls on the handles.
The details on the pieces are exquisite!

They are part of all these implements that were created to facilitate meals and particularly to avoid to the diner participants any occasion to dirty their hands while dining….
Hence the little clamps would be fitted in the kitchen onto to the bone of the cutlet and screwed tight, so the guest would simply have to pick up the little handle and tranquilly, as well as cleanly enjoy the little cutlet!
Some of you maybe more maybe more familiar with the Leg of Lamb holder which is often part of a meat carving service set, but we really love this smaller version presented during meals for lamb cutlets.

The pieces are in perfect condition and are presented in their original presentation box which is in fine condition.
The Width given above is taken at the larger point of the handles.

The Hallmark is ‘Minerve’ 1 -1st title – 1838 -1919– Paris
The Makers Mark seems to be for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET and shows and L and a C with a crossed carving fork and knife set. The mark is very erased hence the mention of Attributed to…
