Fine Pair of French Empire Silver Double Salt Cellars by A Boullier

A fine Pair of large Neoclassical Silver and Vermeil Salt and Pepper Cellars by Maître Orfèvre Antoine BOULLIER.

The set feature a rectangular base resting on four winged lions, with a central grip simulating a silver column topped by a lovely swan with outstretched wings.
The Cellars are cup shaped on a standing on round pedestals and feature a vermeil interior.

It is a charming set, very pure and typical of the Empire Style, or First French Empire period.

The Hallmark is 2ieme Coq -1st title (950/1000) – 1809/1819 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for Maître Orfèvre who first registered his Mark in Paris on December 16th 1775, after receiving the Grand Prix of Drawing from the Drawing School in 1774.
He register his second after the French Revolution in 1798, and this is the Mark present on this piece.
It shows his initials surrounding an obelisk, which symbolizes Bonaparte’s Egyptian campaign.
His first workshop was located 4 Place des Victoires and then 4 rue des Vide Gousset in Paris.
He specialized in larger and finer Silver pieces.
