French Louis XVI Style Gilt Bronze and Genoa Marble Pair Of Cassolettes

Gorgeous Pair of Antique French, Louis XVI Style, Gilt Bronze Cassolettes with ‘Vert de Mer or Genoa’ Marble.

Standing on a round marble base lined with Ormolu pearls, the Cassolettes rise up on three ram hooves, ending in a carefully carved Ram’s head.
The lovely green marble vase is delicately curved and upheld below by a gilded acanthus spoke ending in a gorgeous rosette.

The removable lids convert to a candle scone, and are decorated on the lid side by a Berry finial resting on acanthus leaves, while the other side is carved with acanthus leaves.
These lovely Louis XVI Style Cassolettes were in high fashion under Napoleon the Third’s reign.
They can be used to grace a mantelpiece or as candlesticks.
