Gorgeous 18th Century Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon By LA Taillepied

A Lovely and Delicate Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon dating to between 1762 and 1768 by Louis Antoine TAILLEPIED.
The Spoon is cut out in what has been called The Type 4 ‘Reperce’ one of the most delicate of the Parisian models, with the center part showing a ‘larmes & tulipes’ (Or tears and tulips) motif.
The upper side of the spoon show a Tulip frieze while Acanthus decors decorate the center part.
The whole effect being that the bowl of the spoon is in beautiful ‘reperce’ motif imitating a Rose Window cut out.
The handle is simply and elegantly double lined.
The handle shows a J B engraved monogram.

The work is very refined and the piece is in gorgeous condition.
The design is typical of the early to mid 18th century.
Lovely to use to sprinkle sugar over fresh strawberries per example!

The width given above is that of the spoon’s bowl.

The Hallmark is Fermiers Generaux for Paris 1762-1768 showing a Crowned A.
The Makers Mark is for Louis Antoine TAILLEPIED who registered his mark in 1760, and which shows LAT with a foot turned to the left.
His Mark was registered in 1760.
The discharge mark is for Fermier General Jean Jacques Prevost Paris 1762.
