Gorgeous 19th Century Antique French Silver ‘Jardinière’~Sold~

A Gorgeous Antique French Silver ‘Jardinière’ or Centre Table, in the shape of a woven basket.

The ‘Jardinière’ or Flower centre table, if you would, was used in a variety of ways in order to embellish the table, by either setting flowers or fruits or other items that could enhance the set up.
But you can also use it in many other ways: to present sweets, cookies or simply to decorate with a free standing candle in the middle of the table.

This particular piece shows a lovely cut out work on the gallery which holds the shiny plated silver insert.
Beautifully carved flower bunches of Hawthorn and ‘Forget me not’ decorate each side of the main register, weaving through the silver fluting.
The upper part of the register is also decorated with wine leaves, while the center part hold a medallion waiting for its owners monogram!
The Jardinière is oval shaped and has a silver plated interior which comes out to better clean the piece.
The whole piece looks like a lovely silver basket!

The work is lovely and the shape rather unique. This Jardinière is typical of the 1880s period which saw the centre table become more elaborate.

The silver gallery is in perfect condition without any losses or dents to it! A perfect way to enhance your dinner table.
