Gorgeous Antique Silver Sugar Casket By Flamant Fils~Sold~

This Gorgeous Antique French Silver Crystal Sugar Casket is by Maitres Orfèvres Flamant & Fils.

The silver framework, which holds the dark blue crystal, is cut away to reveal the darker color enhancing the whole effect and outlining the beautiful carvings.
On each side of the bowl floral scrolls and bracketed by cornucopias over flowing with flowers.
The framework shows beautiful and elegant silver arabesques as well as acanthus leaves scrolls.
The vessel rests on four feet outlined by acanthus leaves.
The cover is decorated with a gadroon design and acanthus leaves and is topped by a flower vase.
The handles are rare to come by with an intricate design done with an acanthus scroll curling around and framing the sides of the casket.
The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl, or even to showcase flowers.
The composition is typical of the Napoleon III period.

The cobalt crystal interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
It is in superb condition. No chips or dents. Just gorgeous!

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for FLAMANT & FILS.
Their Mark distinctly shows the name with one boat carrying two men.
They followed in the footsteps of Alfonse DEBAIN and actually occupied the same address at 140 Rue Du Temple in what is today known as the Marais part of Paris.
Their mark was registered on May 30 1880.
