Gorgeous Antique French Silver Sugar Casket By Fray~Sold~

This Gorgeous Antique French Silver and Blue Crystal Sugar Casket is by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ FRAY FILS

The silver framework, which holds the dark blue crystal, is cut away to reveal the darker colour enhancing the whole effect and outlining the beautiful carvings.

The framework shows beautiful and elegant floral arabesques and garlands of roses as well as acanthus leaves scrolls framing a central medallion.

The vessel rests on four feet represented by acanthus leaves. The handles are made to look like twisted leaves.
The cover is decorated with a ‘gadroon’ design and a laurel leaves garland as well as floral scrolls.

It is topped by a gorgeous peony which forms what we call the ‘Frétel’ (or Finial)
The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl, or even to showcase flowers.

The composition is typical of the Napoleon III period.

The dark blue crystal interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
The sugar bowl is in superb condition. No chips or dents. Just gorgeous!
