Gorgeous Antique French Silver Sugar Casket by Harleux~Sold

This Gorgeous Antique French Silver Sugar Casket is by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Jean Baptiste HARLEUX.
The silver framework, which holds the solid silver insert, is cut away to reveal and outline the beautiful carvings.
On each side of the bowl two different flower bouquets are carved out.
The framework shows beautiful and elegant silver arabesques as well as acanthus leaves scrolls.
The vessel rests on four feet represented by acanthus leaves.

The cover is decorated with a ‘gadroon’ design and floral scrolls and is topped by two lovely Cardinal birds with outstretched wings which form what we call the ‘Frétel’ (or Finial)
The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl, or even to showcase flowers.
The composition is typical of the Napoleon III period.
The silver interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
It is in superb condition. No chips or dents. Just gorgeous!
