Gorgeous Antique French Silver Condiment Set by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ FRAY Fils
This rare set includes 4 salt and pepper cellars as well as 1 mustard pot.

All pieces are fully done in silver including the inner insert.
The 5 elements come in 2 parts, with the four sided stands worked in a very particular and very beautiful way.
They are entirely carved in a manner that is reminiscent of Art in 18th century Persia.
They each show 8 peacocks standing on floral scrolls and arabesques.
The work on the peacocks feathers is gorgeous!

The inserts are rounded solid silver with the inner part lined in 18 carat gold.
For the 4 salt and pepper cellars, the insert is divided into 2 parts with the divider topped by a silver knob.
The mustard pot has a dome shaped lid, worked with beautiful arabesques, mirroring the work on the body of the stands.
It is topped by a little flower.

The pieces are in excellent shape! There are very tiny age related marks on the gold liners.

The mustard pot stands at 3.14 inches high and 3.14 inches width.
The insert is 1.57 inches deep.

The Salt cellars are each 2.75 inches high and 3.14 inches wide.
Their insertsare 1.18 inches deep.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for FRAY Fils who registered his mark on January 4th 1875 and cancelled it on April 1st 1891.
It shows his last name spelled out with ‘Fils’ or son, following it, with a crescent on top and a hammer below.
His workshops were located 22 rue Pastourelle in Paris
Each piece is also marked with the name Touron on the insert. Touron was the official supplier to Napoleon III, and employed several known Maitre Orfèvre to produce his best pieces.
