Gorgeous Vermeil And Crystal Vase By Langlois~Sold~

A Gorgeous Antique French Vermeil and Crystal Vase by Emile LANGLOIS.

This beautiful piece is perfectly balanced, a true work of Art, where the crystal and the gilded silver complement each other and make for a gorgeous décor piece in the Louis XV style.
The Crystal,is heavy and finely wheel cut to flat ridges along the sides of the vase which is shaped in a tapering Baluster form.
The ‘Vermeil’ or 18 carat gold washed silver, decorates the upper ridge of the vase and composes the round pedestal.
The pedestal reproduces the same geometric ridges as the crystal and has its round base carved with a laurel leaf wreath.

The most beautiful part is the ‘Vermeil’ band that decorates the higher part of the vase!
The Vermeil frame fits perfectly around the Crystal with a gorgeous wreath of peonies, roses and acanthus leaves mixed with flowing ribbons.
The two handles are actually composed of gorgeously detailed Ram’s heads with curving horns and wavy fur.

The Crystal is intact and the Vermeil décor is in excellent shape with no losses to its carved details.
A beautiful piece to showcase roses or peonies on your table or mantle!
It reminds me closely of the fine products that were heralded by the ‘L’Escalier de Cristal’ store which stood close to the Palais Royal area in Paris in 1804 and proposed their beautiful finds up to 1923.
