The gilded center part is decorated with acanthus leaves and is supported by a tripod base centered on a snake coiled around the central post.
The sides are surmounted by beautifully carved Ram’s heads, finished by acanthus leaves covered hooves and resting on a convex triangular base.
The final base is in white marble adopting the same convex design and resting on flattened ball skids
This design probably inspired by the Pierre Philippe Thomire model of cassolettes featuring the coiled snake.
