Louis XVI Style French Silver Ice Cream Service By Victor Boivin

Louis XVI Style Antique French Silver and Vermeil 14-piece Ice Cream Set or Flatware Service by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Victor Boivin.

This charming set features 12 individual spoons and 2 service pieces.
All pieces showcase the Louis XVI style, and are decorated delicately with floral scrolls details.
The spoons bowls attach to the handles by a lovely ribbon bow.
The inside of the spoons is decorated by an engraved stylized wave and floral scrolls and show a lovely cutout detail.
The right hand side of the spoons is slightly raised to make sure the ice cream does not fall off when you bring it to your mouth!
The service spoon and knife shows the same décor, albeit a little larger.
The details are very delicate, just exquisite really!

The individual spoons are 5.51 inches long
The Service Spoon is 9.64 inches long
The Knife server measures 11.10 inches long

While the service is originally intended for Ice Cream, it can be used for fruit salads or desserts in general.
The spoons are great to handle, with perfect balance, a lovely way to add a little spark to your dessert time!
The set comes in its lovely original box which is in fair condition on the outside and very good condition on the inside.

The Hallmark is Minerva Hallmark 1st Title (950/1000)- 1838 -1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Victor BOIVIN and shows a V and a B with a star above and below.
The Mark was registered in 1897. Victor BOIVIN had taken over from his Father, Jules BOIVIN (who himself had picked up after Nicolas VAUTRIN) he his retirement.
The BOIVIN specialized in ‘Pieces de Formes’, or larger pieces, as well as Cutlery.
The Boivin’s received several prizes during the world Fairs in 1867 and again in 1889.
His workshop was located 5 rue de Montmorency in Paris.
