A lovely Antique French Silver Melon Knives Set in the Regency Style.
The silver handle is delicately worked with stylized acanthus leaves and olive branches and rosettes.
The Blade is in silver and ends in the typical curved and split Tip which characterizes the Melon Knife.
Some still argue that it may also have served to eat lobster or even cheese, but it was created specifically for Melons.
It does however also work really well for cheese, as well as of course watermelon and other fruits.
Set in their presentation box, they are a perfect addition to a set and an interesting conversation piece!
They are in great condition, no mark or losses!
The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris
The Makers Mark is quite erased and though we are rather sure they are by Emile PUIFORCAT we cannot say for sure at the marks are not clear enough.
