Lovely Antique French Silver Oyster Forks By L Coignet

A lovely suite of 12 Antique French Silver Oyster Forks, by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET.

The forks are done in the Louis XVI style with beautiful carving of floral shapes as well as seashell on the handle and the fork itself. The work is particularly refined and the set very elegant. It is quite rare to find a set of twelve still complete today…

They are perfect to hold and handle; a really great shape.
Each fork has both the Minerva 1 silver title as well as the Makers Mark.
They are in good condition

The height given is that of one fork.

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title (950/1000) – 1838 -1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET and shows and L and a C separated by a crossed carving fork and knife set.
He was active between 1889 and 1893.
His address was listed as 14 rue Barbette in the 3rd arrondissment, very close to the Rue Vieille du Temple in the Marais district of Paris.
