Lovely Antique French Silver Rocaille Sugar Bowl By Boivin

Gorgeous Antique French Silver and Cobalt Crystal Sugar Casket by ‘Maitres Orfèvres’ Victor Boivin.

This beautiful piece has a substantial size and weight!

The silver framework, which holds the cobalt blue crystal, is cut away to reveal the darker colour enhancing the whole effect and outlining the beautiful carvings.
On each side of the casket we have the same motif of silver cage frame surrounded by floral scrolls in the expansive Rocaille or Louis XV Style.

The handles separate on the upper part and represent once again floral scrolls with acanthus leaves.

The remainder of the casket is decorated with beautiful rosettes and floral scrolls, while the piece rests on four little feet carved out of the same scroll design.
The lid is decorated with silver painted waves and floral scrolls and topped by a ‘toupie’ or spinning top motif.

The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl, or even to showcase flowers.
The cobalt glass interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
This lovely piece is in great condition.
