Lovely set of four Antique French Silver Salt Cellars by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET

These lovely French Silver open salt caddies or cellars are decorated in the Louis XV Style, with oval shapes resting on ‘piédouche’ or pedestals.
The main silver register is decorated with beautifully rendered rose garlands as well as ribbons, typical of Louis COIGNET’s delicate work.
The interior of the caddies or cellars are coated in 18 carat gold or ‘vermeillé’, which shows through the original clear glass inserts.

Four dainty spoons s complete the set and are original to it. They show ribboned reed wreath as well as a dainty rose button.
The spoon bowls are coated in gold.

The salt cellars and spoons are in very good conditions, and come in their original presentation box which features the name of the shop that sold them in Vienne close to Lyon.
The box is in excellent condition with only very minor losses.

The Hallmark is Minerve -1st title – 1838 -1919 -Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Louis COIGNET and shows and L and a C with a crossed carving fork and knife set.
He was active between 1889 and 1893.
His address was listed as 14 rue Barbette in the 3rd arrondissement, very close to the Rue Vieille du Temple in the Marais district of Paris.
