Lovely Antique French Silver Sugar Casket By Veyrat~Sold~

A Lovely Antique French Silver and Crystal Sugar Casket by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Jean François VEYRAT.

The silver framework, which holds the cobalt blue crystal, is delicately cut away to reveal the darker colour enhancing the whole effect and outlining the lovely carvings.

The main register is decorated with floral scrolls with a geometric fringe above and below.
The Upper décor also has delicate rosettes.

The lid is decorated with a light engraving of floral scrolls and topped by a beautiful flower and leaves décor.
The handles are very different nearly gothic in their geometric designs not usually on sugar bowls.
The four silver feet are decorated with a cone pine and slightly curved.

The piece is particulary lovely, typical of the very early Minerva era…

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Jean François VEYRAT and shows his full last name with a star above and below.
The Mark was registered in 1817, then again on May 5th 1832 and cancelled on January 18th 1840.
He was followed by his son Adolphe VEYRAT.
His workshop was located 10 Rue de la Tour in Paris
