Lovely Silver And Crystal Condiment Set by Canaux~Sold~

A Lovely Antique French Silver and Crystal Condiment Set by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Paul CANAUX & Cie.

This rare set includes a lovely Oil and Vinegar Cruet and two double salt cellars in a very light ‘Rocaille’ style.
The Oil and Vinegar Cruet is complete of its two original hand blown crystal inserts with their delicately decorated silver stoppers.

The egg shaped lower body is decorated with a rose garland while the central hold shows floral scrolls topped by a silver ribbon.
The crystal inserts are slightly ribbed with a delicately wave shaped collar.

The two salt cellars show the same egg shaped body and the same lovely central hold, once again topped by a charming ribbon.
The rose garlands wrap around the upper part of the cups, in the same manners as the larger piece.
The insert are again white crystal, and hand blown.

The pieces are in perfect shape!
No losses, no marks and no dents! A miracle for the delicate crystal inserts!

The Oil and vinegar cruet stands at 8.7 inches high and 7.7 inches long
The Salt cellar pair are each 5.5 inches high and 5.4 inches long.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Paul CANAUX & Cie.
It shows a P and a C followed by cie, with an Anvil underneath.
The company followed Paul CANAUX’s original endeavour, and registered its mark April 12th 1892 and cancelled it on July 20th 1911.
He stayed at his previous address 30 boulevard Malesherbes in Paris until 1899 and then moved to 127 Rue de Turenne.
