Lovely Antique Silver ‘Bonbons’ Service Set By A Debain~Sold~

A Lovely Antique French Silver And Vermeil ‘Bonbons’ (Candy) Service Set by Alphonse DEBAIN.

Though called a Bonbons Service Set, these pieces were more considered as dessert service sets and could come with several different implements.
This complete set is in its original box, which shows only light scruff marks on the outside of it as well as little age marks on the inside but is otherwise in very good conditions.

The pieces are etched in Louis XVI style with a beautiful ‘repoussé design on the handles showcasing floral scrolls and acanthus leaves.
The loveliest part is the work on the spoon and forks bodies which are carved out and highlighted by delicate applications of 18 carat gold or ‘Vermeil’.

Starting by looking at the full picture of the implements, on the left hand side we have a ‘Petits Fours’laddle, with an exquisite work on the tip of the ladle that is completely cut out into floral scrolls. This piece was also sometimes used to serve ‘Fondants’a kind of light melting candy.
The second implement is a Jam spoon which due to the nature of its use was not carved in cut outs but just delicately decorated with floral scrolls.
The third implement is a Candied Fruit fork, with again a lovely little ‘repercé’ work on the fork and the two tone decoration.
The final implement is a ‘Bonbons’ Spoon or Candy Spoon, showcasing again the delicate ‘repercé’ work on the sides of the spoon.

All pieces are in great state!
The Petits Four laddle is 5.7 inches long.
The Jam Spoon and The Candied Fruit Fork are 5.4 inches long. The Bonbons Spoon is 5 inches long.
