Lovely Antique Silver ‘Bonbons’ Service Set By G Veyrat~Sold~

A Lovely Antique French Silver And Vermeil ‘Bonbons’ (Candy) Service Set by Gustave VEYRAT.
One of Veyrat’s specialties was his delicate designs engraved with floral scrolls.

Though called a ‘Service à Bonbon’ or Candy Service Sets, these sets were more considered as dessert service sets and could come with several different implements.
This complete set is in its original box, which shows only little age marks on the inside but is otherwise in very good condition.
The pieces are etched in Louis XVI style with a beautiful ‘repoussé’ design on the handles showcasing floral scrolls and a ‘peigné’ or ‘combed waves’ design.
The loveliest part is the work on the spoon and forks bodies which are carved out and highlighted by delicate applications of 18 carat gold or .Vermeil’.

Starting by looking at the full picture of the implements:
On the left hand side we have a Candied Fruits fork, with a lovely little floral design on the tines and a two tone decoration.
Coming up second, we have a ‘Fondant’ (a kind of light melting candy which was dusted in powder sugar) spoon, with an exquisite work on the sides of the ladle that is completely carved out into floral scrolls.
The third implement is a ‘Bonbon’ Spoon or Candy Spoon, showcasing again the delicate ‘repercé’ work on the sides of the spoon, highlighted by the two tone décor.
The last implement is a pair of delicate sugar tongs with the tips ending in perfect lion’s paws.

All pieces are in great state! No losses or dents.
A lovely addition to an afternoon tea…
