Lovely Antique Silver Lamb Cutlet Holders By E Lefebvre~Sold~

An absolutely lovely Antique French Silver Set of 6 ‘Manches à Cotelettes’ or Lamb Cutlet holder implements by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Eugène LEFEBVRE.
They are delicately decorated with leafy twigs and periwinkle flowers that circle the end of the handle as well as its beginning.

These charming pieces are part of all these implements that were created to facilitate meals and particularly to avoid to the diner participants any occasion to dirty their hands while dining….
Hence the little clamps would be fitted onto to the bone of the cutlet and screwed tight, so the guest would simply have to pick up the little handle and tranquilly as well as cleanly enjoy the little cutlet!

Some of you maybe more maybe more familiar with the Leg of Lamb holder which is often part of a meat carving service set, but we really love this smaller version presented, during meals, for lamb cutlets.

The pieces are in perfect condition and are presented in their presentation box which is in goo condition apart from light age marks on the outside.

The Hallmark is ‘Poinçon A La Hure’ or Boar’s Head Hallmark for Small Silver Objects-2nd title (800/1000) – 1838 -1919– Paris.

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Eugène LEFEBVRE and shows and E and an L separated by a swan pierced by an arrow.
After working for several years with Cyprien RABANIT as an apprentice, he registered his mark on March 9th 1896.
His address was listed as 14 Bis rue des Minimes in Paris.
