Lovely Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon mid 18th century~Sold~

A Lovely and Delicate Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon dating to the mid 1750s.

The bowl of the spoon is in beautiful ‘reperce’ motif showing a Rose Window cut out.
The spoon bowl links to the handle by a beautiful acanthus leaf design, while the lenth of the handle is worked with delicate tulip chutes and rosettes.

The work is extremely refined and the piece is in gorgeous condition.
It is just a perfect design. Typical of the early to mid 18th century.
Lovely to use to sprinkle sugar over fresh strawberries per example!

The piece is absolutely gorgeous.

The width given above is that of the spoon’s bowl.

The Hallmark is Fermiers Generaux for Paris 1750-1756 showing a Crowned A, along with the head of a Rooster as a Discharge Mark.

The Mark was identified as being used under Fermier General Julien BERTHE who supervised between October 1st 1750 until September 30th 1756.
The letter date which points to the precise year between 1750 and 1756 is too erased to be confirmed – though it does look like part of a K which would indicate 1750.
