Lovely Antique XIX Century French Gilt Wood Book Stand
Originally to serve as a Church Lectern stand on an altar this book stand is lightly articulated in order to be able to adjust the height of the book or pages being read.
Carved into the wood are acanthus leaves and rosettes as well as geometrical designs, it stands on 4 carved spinning tops legs.
Hand gilt with gold leaves thee patina is lovely just worn enough to give it its fine edge.
A beautiful way to display a valued painting or a book!
