Lovely French Pair Of River Allegories of the Saône and the Rhône in Gilt Bronze

A truly lovely Pair of Gilt Bronze or ormolu Statues of Allegories, both resting on a Green Campan Marble Base.

Representing Allegories to two great Rivers that flow and join in the wonderful City of Lyon, we have here a gorgeous statue of a woman incarnating La Saône, while a reclining male figure represents Le Rhône.
The quality of the Chiseling is beautiful and each figure is lovely.
The Allegory of the Saône, shows a figure of woman lying down, leaning on an urn from which the River escapes.
The Rhône shows a Bearded man adopting the same pose.

The two mighty rivers join in Lyon and continue flowing down towards the Mediterranean under the sole name of Le Rhône.
The marble bases are beautiful and in excellent shape, while the Ormolu is in very good shape.
