Lovely Gilt Bronze And Enamel Honey Pot By Odiot~Sold~

Lovely Antique Gilt Bronze, Enamel And Cristal Honey Pot By Odiot

This gorgeous piece is a replica of a service created for Napoleon the first by Jean Baptiste Claude ODIOT.
The Bees dusting the Lapis Lazuli Enamel of the Honey Pot symbolize Immortality Of the Soul and Work Ethics, both subjects dear to Napoleon Bonaparte’s heart, which came to represent his life’s work.

This charming piece has 3 parts:
The lid is done in Gilt Bronze and Lapis Lazuli Enamel.
The main Container is done again in Gilt Bronze with an enameled exterior and amazingly carved bees in Ormolu or Gilt Bronze.
Each bee is attached to the interior by a numbered screw, giving you the possibility of cleaning the bees as thoroughly as possible. The system is incredibly delicate and refined.

The pot has a Crystal insert with an ormolu ring to hold the honey.
The beauty of the enamel is quite incredible, giving you the impression of having a Lapis Lazuli covered vessel.
While the model we are showcasing is done in Gilt Bronze and enamel, today the House of Odiot still offers the model, but in silver and gilded silver.

The Mark is for Odiot and shows the name written out with an Oil lamp above and A Paris below, in a square form.
It was used for non-silver items
