Lovely Pair of Silver and Crystal Presentation Plates or ‘Compotiers’ By Paul Massat

The bowls are made of white crystal worked intaglio style, with gorgeous decors of different flowers lining the surface.
A register shows, roses, while the second shows daffodils and still another clematis….

The pedestal is made of solid Silver entirely worked in ‘guillochage’ or lattice work, with a round base resting on three feet worked with floral scrolls.
The design is extremely delicate and wonderfully executed.

These lovely presentation plates can be used in a myriad way, from Fruit presentation their original purpose, to displaying muffins or cookies or even flowers!

The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title – 1838 -1911 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Paul MASSAT and shows his last name. He took over from his father, Jean Baptiste Massat, after working for several years with his brother.
His mark was created in 1877 and cancelled in 1885.
His address was listed as, 15 rue Crussol in Paris in the 11ieme Arrondissement of Paris, very close to the Place de La République.
