Turquin Blue is a marble from Italy, also called Bardiglio, which has the particularity of changing color under the action of strong heat.
This beautiful blue-gray marble with white and black streaks exists in two varieties: there is a dark variety and a light variety, called pale.
This one was particularly appreciated during the reign of Louis XVI and during the First Empire. Indeed its sober character blends very well with the furniture of neoclassical style.
This is the case of the marble used in our Pair of Table Ends.
The most beautiful Turquin marble is extracted from the quarries of Seravezza, not far from Carrara.
It is also extracted in France in the Allier, Ariège, Languedoc, Pyrenees and Haute Garonne.

This charming work dates to the Napoleon III period.
