An absolutely Lovely Pair of French Antique Silver and Crystal Fruit Presentation Plates or ‘Compotiers’ by Adolphe VILLIEN
The body of the ‘Compotiers’ are made of heavy wheel cut in diamond shapes crystal, circled on the upper rim by a beautiful gilded silver band, decorated with acanthus leaves and a flower garland.

The Compotiers rest on a ‘Piédouche’ or pedestal in Gilded (18 carat gold) French silver.

They can be used in a myriad way, from Fruit presentation to Compote bowls, to even flowers or cakes for that matter!
They are both are in excellent condition! No chips or damages to the crystal or the gilt silver.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Maker’s Mark is for Maitre Orfevre Adolphe VILLIEN.
His Mark shows an A and a V with a four leafed clover.
The Mark was registered on June 1st 1904.

The workshop was first located 78 rue des Archives, then at 18 rue des Quatre Fils, in Paris
