A Charming and very detailed Lead Pencil and Watercolor Drawing Of a Botanical Garden by Wilhelm Georgy.
Annotated as being part of the Illustration for a Lecture on the Morphology of Plants, this gorgeous drawing shows a snippet of a tropical forest.

Done mostly in lead pencil, it is highlighted with watercolors and depicts a lush vision of a tropical forest or park.
Taking centerstage is a beautiful banana plant with right behind it a Papaya Tree or Carica Papaya. Both perfectly depicted.
In the background could probably be a Breadfruit tree or Artocarpus Altilis.

The artist even went through the painstaking effort of drawing a beautiful leaf decorated line surrounding the main drawing.
The drawing is signed on the lower left corner and also bears the Artists Stamp on the lower right hand side.

Wilhelm Georgy, the draftsman, was a student of Friedrich Preller the Elder in Weimar and excelled as an illustrator.
He was born in Magdebourg in 1819 and passed away in Weimar in 1887
Georgy first lived and worked in Leipzig, where he produced woodcuts as well as drawings.
Georgy’s accurately drawn works, which testify to a profound study of nature, were of no small importance for late Romantic German book illustration.

His drawings can be found in several Museums of which the collection of the Morgan Library in New York.
