Lovely Salt And Mustard Silver Set by Lenglet ~Sold~

This lovely Antique French Silver & Crystal Set is the work of ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Charles-Antoine-Amand LENGLET

The set consists of on Antique Silver and Crystal Mustard or Condiment pot, and 2 Antique Silver and Crystal Open Salt Caddies or Cellars.

The design is rather typical of the “restauration” period with the two salt cellars showcasing solid silver gadroon decorated “piedouche” or pedestals are wheel cut, faceted crystal cups.

The feet’s of the ‘piedouche’ are decorated with leaves and palms.

The mustard or condiment pot features a matching design, with a gadroon decorated pedestal and a wheel cut faceted crystal insert. The handles consist in beautifully executed Swans with outstretched wings resting on a rosette. The lid shows again the same gadroon design, and is topped by a ‘Frétel’ or finial in the shape of a tiny nut.

Height given above is that of the Mustard pots taken at the finial. The height of the salt cellar is: 3.54’. The width given above is that of the Mustard pots. The width of the salt cellars is: 2.75′. The Depth given above is that of the Mustard pots-The depth of the salt cellars inserts is 1.41′.

Weight given includes the crystals which are not removable.

The crystal insert are original except for one of the salt cellars which we believe might have been replaced earlier on.

The Hallmark is Poinçon au Vieillard-1819-1838-Paris

Charles Antoine Amand LENGLET’s Makers Mark shows ‘an C an A and an L separated by a standing lion, topped by a star. His mark was created in 1823 and cancelled (biffe) in 1842. His offices were located 32 rue Bourg Labbé.
