Lovely Set of 4 Silver Shell Shaped Presentation Bowls by Lapar

An absolutely lovely set Of Four Antique French Silver And Vermeil Presentation Plates by Léon Lapar.

Mainly used to display Hors d’Oeuvres these lovely plates are seashell shaped in Vermeil or Gilt silver and silver.
The shape is beautiful with the shell part coated with 24 carat gold.

The four plates rest on three scrolled rocaille feet.
The holding end of each plate is decorated in Silver with a gorgeous Conch surrounded by delicately rendered silver water reeds.
The four pieces are gorgeous, quite heavy and rare to come by.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Léon Lapar
His Mark was registered on February 12th 1878, and cancelled in 1897.
He had taken over the workshop from Louis Beguin and would in turn leave it to Georges Fouquet Lapar.
His workshop address was first listed as 16 Rue de Choiseul, then 25 Rue de Choiseul in Paris located two streets away from the Paris Opera House.
