Lovely Silver And MOP Hors D’oeuvre Set By Carpentier & Cottin~Sold~

Lovely Antique French Silver and Mother Of Pearl ‘Hors D’oeuvres’ Service Set by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ CARPENTIER & COTTIN.
The Hors D’oeuvre Service Sets were usually sold separately from the ‘Ménagère’ and tailored to order.
One could choose between different implements on offer, ranging from several types of olive and gherkin spoons to pâté knives or servers, butter knives and sardine forks.

This lovely set has Mother of Pearl handles on all four pieces, and delicately decorated bowls, blades and tines.
The silver ferrules are worked in a Rocaille style.
The work on the spoons, tines and blade takes a little after the ‘Japonisant’ (Japanese style) trend, with flowers and florals scrolls, as well as delicate floral cutouts on three of the pieces.

Starting by looking at the full picture of the implements (1st picture) on the top side we have a Sardine fork.
Second from top comes the Pickled vegetable server, followed in turn by the Olive Spoon.
The last piece is a pâté knife/server.

All pieces are in great state! No marks or losses to the silver or to the Mother of Pearl.
They come in their original fitted box..
