Rare 18th Century French Silver Covered Mustard Pot by JJ Baudet

Rare 18th Century Covered Mustard Pot on its Adjoining Silver Platter by Jean Joseph Baudet.

Of oval shape the platter rests on four silver feet, with a moulding of pearls heightened by foliage, shells, and grapes on the two ends.
The circular mustard pot is decorated in the period style (Louis XVI) with garlands, and ribbon bows framing a medallion.
The lid is carved with gadroons and laurel leaves, with the finial in the shape of a berry.
The interior is in cobalt blue glass.
Truly rare to be found with its platter this item is a collector’s piece!

The Hallmark are Poinçon Aux Fermiers Généraux :
Photo # 6 we have the Poincon de Jurande with the Crowned U for Paris for the Year 1783 under Fermier Général (Tax collector if you will..) Henri Clavel.

We also have the Charge and the Discharge mark for the 1783 to February 22nd 1789

The gorgeous Makers Mark is that of Jean Joseph BAUDET, it shows his initials surrounding a rooster.
This Mark was registered on July 20th 1782.
Jean Joseph Baudet survived the Revolution and went on the re-register a new Mark after 1798.
