Rare Antique French Silver Pepper Mill By Doutre Roussel

A Rare Antique French Silver Pepper Mill in the ‘Regency’ Style by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Claude Doutre Roussel.

Rather rare to come by this Elegant pepper mill is simply worked entirely in the Regency Style on their baluster shaped bodies.
The upper and lower ridges are decorated with a line of gadroons and the sides are beveled.
The Finials or buttons (which twist off to enable the removal of the upper part in order to put the Pepper corns) is decorated with a blackberry.

The Work is very fine and typical of the 1880/1890, beautiful and well rendered, and they remain functional as well!
The mechanism is intact.

The Hallmark is ‘Minerve’ 1 -1st title – 1838 -1919– Paris

The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Claude DOUTRE ROUSSEL and shows his initials with a double two domino underneath.
The Mark was registered on May 17th 1895.
His workshop was located 118 rue Vieille du Temple in the Marais Area of Paris.
