Rare Antique French Silver Selfish Coffee Pot By Hience~Sold~

A Rare French Antique Silver ‘Egoiste’ Coffee Pot by ‘Maitre Orfèvre’ Antoine HIENCE

The eagle head is often used by French Silversmiths, but not often in this way. Here the whole head including the neck and feathers is used to re create the spout in a gorgeous and very detailed way!
The body of the pot itself is decorated with a beautifuly rendered heart of spokes fringe in the upper register while the top part is decorated with a geometric design.

The Finial, or ‘Frétel’, is in the form of a raspberry, while the edges of the lid reproduce the same heart of spokes designs as on the body of the pot. The oblong body is supported by 3 silver feet ending in Lion’s paws and linked to the body by beautifully carved acanthus leaves.

The piece is absolutely exquisite, and can serve up to 2/3 expressos.
The width given above is taken at the handle- The Handle cannot be removed hence the weigth given includes it.
The lovely Egoiste has a GF monogram on its main body.
