Rare Silver & Vermeil Grape Scissors By Odiot~Sold~

Lovely pair of Antique French Silver & Vermeil Scissors by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ ODIOT.

A very fashionable item during the reign of Napoleon III, the grape scissors were ‘The’ item to have when presenting guests with fruits during the meals.

This pair is beautifully worked with great details on the handles and on the central part. It features a lovely Rose bouquet at the start of the handles extending from a delicate  ribbon to a line of dotted pearls of gilded silver.

The middle section showcases a beautiful rosette work with acanthus leaves.

The edge of the handles also show an acanthus leaf design as well as a line of silver pearls.

The whole piece is in silver and vermeil, or 18 carat gilded silver, making it quite rare as very often the blades were in metal. Another highlight is also the very elegant and refined work, not too heavy, not too light…just perfectly balanced!
