Refined Antique French Silver Sifter Spoon By SJD ~Sold~

A Refined and Delicate Antique French Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon by a Provinces Master Silversmith.

The bowl of the spoon is in beautiful ‘reperce’ motif showing a perfect Rose Window cut out.
The handle is typical of the Restauration Era with a simple, yet very delicate, ‘Guilloche’ design on the sides and a laurel leaf etching on the lower end.
The Sifter handle is marked with a CB monogram which is included in a shield.

The work is extremely refined and the piece is in gorgeous condition.
It is just a perfectly elegant and refined design.

Lovely to use to sprinkle sugar over fresh strawberries or fruits!
The width given above is that of the spoon’s bowl.

The Year Hallmark is ‘Tete de Vieille Femme’ or ‘Old Woman’s head’ in a Octogon (1st title -950/1000), which was used in the provinces between 1819 and 1838, at the same Time Paris was using the Michel Angelo Hallmark.

The Makers Mark shows S J D in a lozenge form. We are still trying to identify the Province Master Silversmith and will update the website as soon as we do! We do think the Master was either from Chalons or Reims…
