Silvered Bronze Statue of an Owl by Antoine Bofill

A lovely Owl sculpture of a standing owl, signed on the back by Antoine Bofill.

Antoine Bofill was born in Barcelona and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in his native city, but he moved to France and was active in the Parisian art world for most of his career.
Bofill is primarily known as an Animalier, the group of 19th century sculptors specializing in animal groups, lead by Antoine louis Barye.
Bofill experimented with different materials in his usually small scale objects, including ivory and silver and several less used patinas as is the case with our silvered owl.
The model was created circa 1915.

Our edition is signed on the back of the owl and also bears the foundry stamp.
