Stunning Antique Silver Sugar Casket by Paillard~Sold~

Stunning Antique French Silver and Crystal Sugar Casket in the Louis XVI style by Paillard Frères.

The silver framework, which holds the cobalt blue crystal, is cut away to reveal the darker color enhancing the whole effect and outlining the beautiful carvings.
On each side of the bowl two winged Cupids surround a medallion which is just waiting for its new owners’ initials!
The framework shows beautiful and elegant silver ribbons and floral garlands.

The cover is decorated with ribbon tied floral garlands with the same cherub holding a medallion on each side.
The Finial is charming! It showcases Cupid in ‘ronde bosse’ with his arrow drawn in a shooting position!
The cobalt crystal interior is original to the piece and in perfect condition.
It is in superb condition. No chips or dents, no losses to the silver décor.
A truly lovely piece typical of the work done by the Paillard Brothers.

The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919– Paris

The Makers Mark shows a P followed by ‘fres’ with three stars underneath and is for PAILLARD Freres.
PAILLARD Freres registered their mark in 1868 and cancelled in in 1888. They held their trade at 31 rue Chapon in Paris.
