Stunning Silver Incense Burner By Haek & Hourdequin ~Sold~

Stunning Antique French Silver Incense Burner by ‘Maitres Orfèvres’ Charles HAEK & Achille HOURDEQUIN.

This absolutely gorgeous piece in the distinctive Louis XVI Style, ‘Athenian’ Standing Basin form.
It is so rare that we have only come upon it twice before but with a slight difference, as it was the feminine pendant to this masculine edition!

It is absolutely beautiful!
Standing on triangular pedestal, this silver incense burner rests on a Tripod ending with gorgeous Lion’s paws.
The tripod is tied to the basin by beautifully rendered ‘Pan’s heads’ which end each leg.
The basin itself is sculpted with delicate leaves and a laurel and ribbon wreath, while each Pan’s head is linked to the other by a flowing rose garland.

The lid is topped by a flaming torch and is decorated by silver pearls and acanthus leaves. It has a beautiful pierced open worked garland circling it, allowing the perfume or incense to sift through..

Inside the basin you can find a delicate cut-out platform of silver which is used to set upon the incense or perfume…
Halfway through the through the delicate feet, a platform houses a beautifully detailed masculine figure in 18th century cloth, holding his hat is his hand, worked in a ‘Ronde Bosse’ or free standing style.
The whole piece is just exquisite and in perfect shape with no losses, no damages just pure and beautiful.
