A Charming Antique French Silver Selfish Coffee Pot by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ TETARD Frères
This lovely French Antique Silver Coffee Pot is called ‘Egoïste’ in French as it holds roughly 2 Espressos or 1 larger coffee but no more! Hence the connotation of Selfish.
This lovely coffee pot is absolutely charming.
The handle is in Mahogany, and the pot rests on 4 floral scrolls serving as feet.
The body of the pot shows a gadroon lined lower part while the upper end is decorated with garland of laurel leaves and ribbons.
The lid is dome shaped and shows the same gadroon décor as the main body. It is topped by a silver berry.
The piece is in great shape! Just lovely!
The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919 – Paris
The Makers Mark is for TETARD FRERES which was registered in 1903.
It shows a kettle with TF res underneath.
TETARD FRERES took over from Edmond Tétard.
They were located 4 rue Beranger at the limit of the Marais part of Paris.
