This Charming Antique French Silver & Crystal Sugar Casket is by ‘Maîtres Orfèvres’ MASSAT Frères.
The silver framework, which holds the cobalt blue crystal interior, is cut away to reveal the darker colour enhancing the whole effect and outlining the lovely carvings.
The piece showcases elegant silver arabesques as well as medallions, ribbons and delicate scrolls. The casket rests on four arabesques like feet.
The lid is really lovely, showing a beautiful Gerbera flower, one of our favourite, as a Finial or ‘Frétel’. It stands in all its glory, each petal exquisitely outlined and carved, with even the tiniest petals carefully drawn.
The size of the bowl makes it ideal to either be used as a sugar bowl or serve as a condiment bowl.
The cobalt crystal interior is original to the piece and in good condition without any chips.
The Silver frame is in great condition.
