Charming set of four Antique French Gilt Silver Salt Cellars by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Charles Barrier.
These lovely French Silver open salt caddies or cellars are decorated in the Art Nouveau manner, with a ‘Vermeil’ (24 carat gold, over solid silver) holder showcasing a lovely repoussee motif of cloverleaves & flowers.
The removable crystal interior is clear and are all intact.
Four dainty vermeil spoons complete the set, decorated with a clover flower chute.
The box is in excellent condition with only very minor losses.
The Hallmark is Minerve 1 -1st title (950/1000) – Hence 1838 to 1919– Paris
The Makers Mark is for Maitre Orfèvre Charles BARRIER and shows a C and a B separated by a Gaiter topped by a Star.
The mark was registered in 1905 in Paris, and was cancelled in 1923.
