An elegant suite of 12 Antique French Silver Oyster Forks, by ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Hipollyte THOMAS.
The forks are very pure and very elegant with a violin shape and a double edged line circling the whole handle.
They are perfect to hold and handle; a really great shape. Each fork has both the Minerva 1 silver title as well as the Makers Mark.
All are in very good condition.
They are presented in a box which is a little worn by time though coming from a great house Touron located 101 Rue de Richelieu in Paris.
This might have been a replacement to the original box the forks came in.
The Hallmark is Minerva 1-1st title – 1838 -1911 – Paris
The Makers Mark is for ‘Maître Orfèvre’ Hipollyte THOMAS and shows the 2 initials topped by a rosebud, with a star underneath.
Hippolyte THOMAS’s mark was in sculpted in 1845 and he worked up to 1855.
His shop was located 9 Rue des Enfants Rouge in the 3rd Arrondissement of Paris.
