An elegant Pair of Salt and Pepper Cellars dating back to the French Restoration Period by Maître Orfèvre Désiré Toussaint LEGRAND.
Done in a rather unique style they show a rectangular and flared main part, separated in two compartments by a removable center division ending in a circular scrolled handle.
The rectangular main body which is decorated on the rim with laurel leaves and on the bottom with a geometric frieze, sits on an oval pedestal.
The pedestal rim is lined with the same laurel leaves and sits on four floral scroll feet.
The Hallmark is Michael Angelo -1st title (950/1000) – 1819/1838 – Paris
The Makers Mark is for Maître Orfèvre Désiré Toussaint LEGRAND who registered his Mark in 1818 and canceled it on October 4th 1834.
It shows a D and an L with a panache on top and a star below with a dot in between.
His address was listed as 79 quai de l’Horloge in Paris.
