A beautiful French Antique Silver 12 piece Serving Set by Felix MERLE.
This complete and lovely set is in its original box, which shows light scruff marks on the outside of it, but is otherwise in very good condition.
The pieces are etched in the Renaissance Style with a beautiful guilloche design on the handles as well as a Monogram outline showcasing a Count’s Crown.
The handles are delicately carved with an acanthus leaf knot of the upper part, and another larger one decorating the lower part of the handle, which ends in a floral knot.
An acanthus leaf is again found at the link between the handles and the tines or forks of the smaller Hors D’oeuvres service pieces.
In this set you have:
A Fish Fork and Knife, with the blade of the knife showing a floral display in the form of a cut out design in its center, while the fork is etched with flowers and shows a lovely scallop shell at the link between the tines and the handle. The blade and the tines are in plated silver.(The knife is 12.4 inches long / The fork is 11.2 inches long)
A Salad Spoon & Fork with the carved bow and tines in ivory that has not suffered from time and is in great condition, and which show the same lovely handles. (11.1 inches long)
Four adorable little Salt spoons with Russian style handles. (2.6 inches long)
Then you have your wonderful hors d’oeuvre serving set, with going from bottom to top of the main picture, a Paté or Foie Gras Server, an Olive Spoon with a gorgeous cutout design, a Sugar spoon showing the same lovely cutout, and finally a pickled Gherkin fork. (7.4 inches long).
All pieces are in great state no losses or marks, just Gorgeous!
