A Beautiful Louis XVI time Gilt Bronze Mantel Clock signed by Jacques Javelot in Paris.
The Mantel clock is done in chased ormolu decorated on the left hand side with a beautiful Cupid drawing, while seated in clouds.
The white enameled circular dial is signed by Jacques Javelot is flanked by on the other side by 2 long views, an armillary sphere and foliage all done in ormolu with gorgeous detailing.
The whole rests on a raised oval base adorned with an interlacing frieze.
Jacques Javelot was one of the best clockmakers in Paris during the Reign of Louis XVI and resided rue des Saintes Pères from 1772 to 1783.
A gorgeous piece which is in working order and in beautiful shape.
