Lovely dresser or table Silver Mirror by Alexandre Sergent.
This lovely piece is typical of the Napoleon the Third’s fashion and would have graced the bedroom of a Society lady.
The Mirror frame is in silver enhanced with vermeil and decorated with floral scrolls.
Standing on a bronze trestle it has two arms of removable light, beautifully worked with floral decors and bearing their original bobèches.
It is surmounted by a medallion in applique surrounded by a garland of oak leaves.
The Mirror stands on two feet consisting of floral swirls.
The back of the mirror is in Mahogany.
The Hallmark is Minerva 1 – 1st title silver (Paris 1838/1919)
The Makers Mark is for Alexandre SERGENT a jeweler and silversmith who could boast of a lengthy list of silversmiths in his ancestors..
His Mark was registered on June 8th, 1866 and Cancelled on March 9th 1868.
His Workshop was located 13 rue Chapon in Paris.
